CHILD SUPPORTING PROGRAM
The invisible victims of incarceration
The programs concerning children of imprisoned parents have been designed with the purpose to offer psychosocial support to children of incarcerated parents, and to minimize the negative consequences brought about by incarceration. The ultimate goal of the program is the partial or complete emotional and social support and prevention.
Why is the team helpful?
It covers the child’s need for psychosocial support
It offers a structured and safe environment for the child to express and explore his/her concerns and thoughts.
It provides a structured environment for learning and implementing social skills
It helps the child develop the feeling of belonging in a team- he or she identifies with the experiences of other children who also have a parent in prison.
